Gifts For Girlfriends - Tips For The Perfect Gift

So you need a cute gift for your girlfriend, something that shows that you care, something that doesn't make you look a cheapskate, but at the same time doesn't break the bank either.

What sort of gift would YOUR girlfriend like? That's what you need to ask yourself, not just what typical gifts women like, or what you imagine the average girlfriend may enjoy receiving.

Though I won't deny many women share common interests, it's important to remember that your girlfriend is a unique individual, not a cliche of womanhood - so steer yourself away from the perfume aisle and think more carefully before you buy.

The most impressive gift you can give your girlfriend is one where it is clear you have thought about it properly and didn't just revert to buying standard 'women gifts' like perfume, bags, shoes and so on. I mean, we know that many women like these things but we're not quite so one dimensional and many of us have a wide range of hobbies and interests.

Think about what her hobbies are. Does she run? If so think about running gear and gadgets. Does she love to sew? Kit that girl out with a new swanky sewing machine if you're feeling lavish, or perhaps a simple but very cute pin cushion.  Use her hobbies as a guide for your gift buying.

Is your girlfriend less about the gifts and more about the experiences in life? If you've got yourself a lady who isn't really into material possessions and won't appreciate a physical gift, consider buying her tickets for an event, or whisking her away for a weekend somewhere new.

Got a foodie on your hands? If so you're lucky because there a world of gifts to choose from with this theme as your guide. If she just likes to eat food rather than cook it, you could purchase a gift voucher for that chic new restaurant in town, or a hamper of hard to find exotic goodies even. If she loves to cook too, you'll be spoilt for choice, just head into Lakeland or similar and take your pick from gadgets and gizmos for her kitchen.

Remember, even if it's for the kitchen make it something special still, no girlfriend wants a toaster, a mixing spoon or a cheese grate for their birthday or Christmas gift.

You could even take your foodie girlfriend to a food festival, there are many hosted around the country over the Spring and Summer months and most offer weekend camping ... which brings me to your 'outdoors girlfriend'.

If your girlfriend is outdoorsy, this is another area to explore. You can purchase gifts along the lines of outdoor clothing (nothing utilitarian and boring, just the fancy stuff she'd never think to buy herself), uber cool camping gadgets, or luxury sports equipment if she's a sporty girl too.

This information is by no means exhaustive, you might have yourself a girlfriend who is into taxidermy for all I know, but the point is, make it your business to know and make sure your gifts take into account her indivuality.
