Mothers Day Gift Ideas

We get it, you love your mum but you're busy, you always leave it until the last minute to get her gift and you're not sure how many more times you can buy her spring flowers and still be even mildly impressive. You're also pretty sure that a pasta necklace will no longer cut it as a Mothers Day gift.

Mothers Day is that one day each and every year in the UK and the USA that has been marked as our day to tell mums how very much they're appreciated and perhaps get them a gift and a card.

We all understand that we're supposed to show our appreciation and love year round and I'm sure many of us do, but this yearly reminder is appreciated by most, along with all the other yearly reminders we get - like Valentines Day for instance.

So what are your ideas for Mothers Day this year? If you're struggling to think of any novel, interesting or inspired Mothers Day gift ideas, don't worry, we've come up with some ideas for you, we won't tell.

1. Experiences

We often forget about these don't we when it comes to gift ideas. A day around the racing track perhaps? A leap from a plane? A cocktail class? Or perhaps just high tea at a fancy hotel surrounded by her adoring children.

2. Breakfast In Bed

The classics never get old. My son brought me cheese on toast this year. Not bad for a 12 year old boy working alone in the kitchen.

If you're dad and your orchestrating this Mothers Day shindig, you can obviously do much better than this and send in your munchkins with something a bit fancier ... smoked salmon, dill and egg, a full English breakfast, home made pancakes drizzled with honey or chocolate sauce ... tuck the card and gift on the side.

3. Flowers

I'm testing you. NO. JUST NO. Do better

4.  Theatre Tickets

Thespian or musicals loving mum? This one's a rather special gift as theatre trips (you'll need two tickets) are rather pricey, but if you've got the cash to splurge on mum this Mothers Day, this one is sure to impress.

5. A Night Out At The Flicks

If you're more budget than bling, you can give those theatre tickets a miss and stump up for two cinema tickets instead. Very few people don't enjoy a night out at the cinema and with tickets steadily increasing in price over the years, it's becoming somewhat of a luxury.

If you're dad, why not let her take a gal pal to watch something you'd rather poke your eyes out than see while you stay at home and look after the kids.

6. Plant Her A Herb Garden

If mum is a foodie but hasn't found time yet to create her very own herb garden, this is your opportunity to do better than the standard Mothers Day spring flowers and instead distract her for a couple of hours while you surprise bed in a range of herbs in a potted area or patch in the garden or window ledge.

The sort of plants that mum can enjoy cooking from fresh with include chilli, basil, chives, coriander and mint.

7. Jewellery Never Gets Old

And tooting our own horn here, you could consider jewellery as it's a rare woman that doesn't love jewellery.

You could get her a piece of handmade jewellery from our handmade jewellery collection, where you will find over 50 items to choose from ...
